Let’s true witnesses of the Christmas

Christmas is a festive occasion filled with joy. Effectively showcasing the joyful elements of Christmas through life experience is a means of embodying the true essence of Christmas. The thoughtful Christian community encourages all Christians to exemplify a joyful Christmas by embodying the virtuous acts of acceptance, generosity, and love this season while fostering better understanding among our non-religious brothers and sisters.

“Christmas is a joyous festivity. Because Christmas centers around the miraculous birth of Prince Jesus. That birth is incomparable to any other human birth, and it gives a bright light for the well-being of life of not just Christians, but for everyone who embraces Christ. It gives a solid base. It is a profound and unconditional love.” Therefore, the Movement of Christian Women’s Voice (MCWV) states that Christians should be affectionate and righteous enough to show light to the world every Christmas, a strong foundation for those who lack faith, and a deep love for those who have lost true love.

“Christmas is the celebration of the birth of the Son of God, the Son of Man, to a human woman. But Christmas is not just a birthday celebration. It is important to give priority to the purpose of that birth, as well as to the one who was born on Christmas Day”, notes an editorial in the official newspaper of the Catholic Church.

The birth of Christ, highly significant to Christians, marks a pivotal moment in the history of salvation. The text highlights that this awaited moment, filled with great hope for thousands of years—from God’s promise of a Savior following Adam and Eve’s behavior against their Creator until the first Christmas—arrived with the birth of Jesus.

It’s said that “Thus, the Christmas celebration spreads happiness not just to Christians but to everyone living across the globe.”

The Editorial note of the official newspaper Gnanartha Pradeepaya, last Sunday, urges the Christian people to take steps during these days to enjoy the true joy of Christmas and to understand the true meaning of Christmas more than its external beauty.

The editorial also points out that Christians can set a great example of Christianity to non-Christians in our preparation and behavior at Christmas.

The Movement of Christian Women’s Voice emphasizes that expressing the joy of Christmas or celebrating it as Christians, makes it more meaningful to help people suffering from intractable suffering, to accept and strengthen those who have been abandoned for whatever reason, and to introduce Christian values to those who live without purpose, thus illuminating their lives.

Further, the Movement of Christian Women’s Voice states that observing the current political upheaval in Sri Lanka with an analytical eye and responding in the light of the Holy Spirit, without remaining silent in the face of facts that are disrupting the new path that Sri Lanka is taking according to God’s will and defying God’s will, is another great opportunity to share the joy of Christmas in celebrating the birth of our Prince of Peace, who brought about liberation.

The Editorial note of the Catholic Newspaper shows that the happiness we feel when aiding those in need who are struggling with poverty in their everyday lives represents the genuine joy of Christmas. Also, it emphasizes that if Christmas serves as a means to overlook the negative aspects and divisions between us and to mend familial and social connections, then the joy that results is indeed the true joy of Christmas.

END.
