UAE and Sri Lanka: exploring avenues to expand employment opportunities

Offering assistance, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also pledged its support to the Sri Lankan Government’s efforts to create a developed and prosperous nation.
At a significant meeting held at the Presidential Secretariat, Khaled Nasser Al Ameri, the UAE Ambassador to Sri Lanka, assured President Anura Kumara Dissanayake of the UAE’s dedication to enhancing bilateral relations.
The Ambassador emphasized intentions to boost investments in Sri Lanka and exchange technical knowledge in digitalization and advanced technology.
Emphasizing the robust bilateral relations between the two countries, Ambassador Al Ameri underscored initiatives to enhance economic cooperation.
He revealed intentions to boost investments in Sri Lanka and offer technical support to promote innovation and modernization.
The conversation also highlighted the important contribution of the 150,000 Sri Lankans who are currently working in the UAE.
Both sides investigated ways to increase job prospects for Sri Lankan workers in the UAE, thereby enhancing economic connections.
The UAE, being Sri Lanka’s sixth-largest export destination, was recognized as a significant area for expansion. Discussions took place regarding the diversification and expansion of Sri Lankan exports to the UAE, highlighting a shared interest in increasing trade.
Ambassador Al Ameri emphasized the UAE’s dedication to nurturing a lasting friendship and guaranteed that the UAE would extend assistance to Sri Lanka whenever required.
In a display of goodwill, the Ambassador offered an official invitation to President Dissanayake to come to the UAE.
