Maldives President is seeking skilled educators from Sri Lanka

The President of Maldives, Dr Mohamed Muizzu, has indicated a desire to hire skilled educators from Sri Lanka. He stated his wish to obtain extra assistance in the education sector from Sri Lanka.

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Maldives, Pelpolage Ranga Sujeewa Goonawardena, delivered his official credentials to Maldives President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony at the President’s Office in the Maldives.

The High Commissioner was taken to the President’s Office from the Republic Square in a traditional procession called “Haiykolhu” accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.

The President accepted and welcomed the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Maldives after he presented his Letters of Credence.

After the presentation, the President and High Commissioner talked about increasing collaboration between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, including boosting investment promotion and improving economic cooperation in areas such as education and health. The President stated he wants to get more help in education, especially in hiring skilled teachers for the Maldives.

Diplomatic ties between the Maldives and Sri Lanka were officially formed on the 26th of July, 1965.
