Funeral parlour threatened over Club Wasantha’s body: tightened security

Increased security measures have been implemented at a well-known funeral home in Colombo, where the body of Surendra Wasantha Perera, also known as ‘Club Wasantha,’ is placed.

He is currently resting at the Respect Home at Jayarathna Parlour. The funeral will be held at 3.30 p.m. The burial will take place at Borella Cemetery tomorrow.

It is said that this action is a result of an unconfirmed phone call warning about a possible danger to the parlour for storing the remains of Club Wasantha.

In the meantime, checkpoints have been set up throughout Mannar due to intelligence indicating that the individuals linked to the Athurugiriya shooting might try to flee to India by using fishing boats.

Authorities have warned airports and other important locations to stop the suspects from fleeing the country. Nevertheless, numerous specific checkpoints and barricades have been established because of the increased probability of fleeing via Mannar.

Law enforcement officials are carefully watching people getting onto fishing boats in Mannar, especially those who do not have valid fishing ID cards, in order to stop any illegal sea journeys.

END.
