An allowance of Rs. 7,500 for Sunday school teachers (Dhampaasal teachers)

The Cabinet has approved the provision of a teacher allowance and uniform allowance for teachers of dahampaasal (religious schools).
Cabinet sources say that approval has been given to provide a sum of Rs. 7,500/- as a lump sum, which includes the teacher allowance and uniform allowance, to teachers who have completed one year of continuous service, and that the allowance will be paid once a year.
This decision will be implemented in registered dahampaasal (religious schools) belonging to the Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic, Christian and Catholic religions from the year 2026 onwards.
It is also reported that this decision has been taken to encourage the continuous service of teachers working in religious schools and to protect their identity, as well as to promote religious education, which is essential for the well-being of society.
