Sri Lanka faces 30% tariff in US trade escalation

Sri Lanka has been hit with a 30% tariff by the United States, part of a broader package affecting six other nations, President Donald Trump announced on July 9 .

Under the new measures, imports from Sri Lanka will see duties rise to 30%, effective from August 1.

The US also imposed the same 30% tariffs on Algeria, Iraq, and Libya, while Brunei and Moldova face 25%, and the Philippines 20%.
