A Program on Human Trafficking and Smuggling Training for Tri-Forces Officers

 

 
A two-day program for three armed forces personnel on human trafficking and smuggling was held on July 4th and 5th at Muwanpik Hotel in Colombo and the program was successfully completed, said the Ministry of Defense.
 
Ms. Minoli P Don, the Head of the Protection Unit – IOM has immensely contributed in initiating this Programme by collaborating with the National Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (NAHTTF), the Ministry of Defense said.
 
During the two-day workshop, the Officials from the IOM Sri Lanka and Maldives, Ms. Michel Bermam (Senior Project Coordinator Trafficking), Mr. Imthath (Senior Project Coordinator) Mr. Nipuna Wijesinghe (Project Coordinator Counter Trafficking) conducted the lectures.
 
In addition, Chief Inspector, Mr. Sugath Amarasinghe, Investigation Officer of the Human Trafficking Maritime Smuggling Criminal Investigation Division conducted lectures at the program.
 
During the closing remarks, the Chief of National Intelligence highlighted the importance of the awareness on Human Trafficking for Tri-Forces Officers and requested to share acquired knowledge with subordinates.
 
Representing the Secretary of Defense, Chairman of NAHTTF, Maj. Gen. Ruwan Kulatunga, Chief of National Intelligence attended the certificate awarding ceremony.
