Protestors mark the B’day of Convenor of IUSF

Protestors marked the B’day of Wasantha Mudalige the Convenor of the Inter-University Students’ Federation, outside the TID Office in Narahenpita yesterday, where he is currently being detained under the Prevention of Terrorist Act (PTA).
 
At the occasion, addressing the media, a lawyer and trade unionist, Swasthika Arulingam, called for the release of Wasantha, Ven. Siridhamma Thero and Hashan Jeewantha and for the PTA to be repealed and not replaced by the National Security Act or any other terror law. 
She also called for repealing the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and not replacing it with the National Security Act or any other anti-terrorism law.
 
Swasthika also highlights of the repressive PTA has been historically used against Wasantha, Siridhamma Thero, or Heshan but also against Tamils and Muslims in Sri Lanka for 40 years, to crush dissent and those standing up to the oppressive State.
“We stand with the IUSF in their fight to release their comrades.” She also added.
