India: The largest lender to Sri Lanka in 2022

China has been the largest bilateral lender to Sri Lanka over the past five years. In 2021, China disbursed a total of 947 million USD, of which 809 million USD was obtained as market borrowings from the China Development Bank.

Since 2015, the Asian Development Bank has disbursed funds amounting to LKR 610 million.

Over US$ 968 has been disbursed in the first four months of this year. During this period, according to the Publicfinance.lk the largest bilateral lender was India. Disbursements from India (USD 377 million) and the ADB (USD 360 million) make up 76% of total disbursements in the first four months of 2018.
