Customs Allows Duty-Free Clearance for All Foreign Humanitarian Aid!
Customs Director General Seevali Arukgoda announced that all humanitarian aid sent from abroad for disaster-affected people in Sri Lanka can now be cleared without any customs duties.
He made this statement during a media briefing held yesterday (02) at the Government Information Department to explain the customs procedures for foreign humanitarian aid.
Arukgoda added that sending aid through the Disaster Management Center will help further speed up and simplify the clearance process whenever possible.
He noted that Sri Lankans living overseas and many international organizations are ready to support the affected communities, and therefore a simple, fast procedure has been introduced to clear all such aid without delays or charges.
He also stated that the full guidelines are available on the Sri Lanka Customs website and that information about items allowed as humanitarian aid can be found on the donate.gov.lk website.
