Number of People Affected by Cyclone Ditva Rises Sharply

This is according to 6.00 am on Tuesday 

According to the status report issued by the Disaster Management Center yesterday (02) at 6:00 Am, 1,373,899 people from 382,651 families have been affected by Cyclone Ditva.

The report also confirms that 390 people have died, while 352 remain missing as rescue and relief operations continue across the island.

Authorities have established 1,368 safety centers nationwide, providing shelter for 204,597 individuals from 57,790 families.

The highest number of deaths has been reported in the Kandy District (88). Badulla District has recorded 82 deaths, while 75 deaths have been reported from the Nuwara Eliya District.

In addition, red notices have been issued for evacuations in seven districts due to the increased risk of landslides. The districts on high alert are Badulla, Colombo, Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Matale, and Nuwara Eliya.
