Sri Lanka and Italy Discuss Stronger Ties in Trade, Tourism, and Migration
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, Ms. Maria Tripodi, met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Employment, and Tourism, Mr. Vijitha Herath, yesterday (04) at the Minister’s office.
The discussions centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, tourism, migration, and air connectivity.
Minister Herath highlighted Sri Lanka’s recent economic progress, political stability, and the favorable environment created for foreign investment. He also underscored Italy’s vital role in supporting the rapid growth of Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.
The meeting further addressed the welfare of Sri Lankan migrant workers in Italy and explored solutions to long-standing issues, including challenges related to driving licenses.
