SJB to vote in favour of resolution to remove Deshabandu

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has decided to vote in favour of the resolution to remove IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon from the post, Chief Opposition Whip Gayantha Karunathileke said.
“We are the ones who opposed the appointment of Tennakoon as the IGP, and we went to court against his appointment. Therefore, we decided that we should vote in favour of this resolution,” he said.
Chief Opposition Whip was sharing his views with the Daily Mirror that the SJB Parliamentary Group has decided to vote in favour of the resolution.
SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam said the party has not taken an official stand, and their parliamentary group will decide on it at the right time.
The resolution to remove Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon from office in terms of Section 17 of the Removal of Officers (Procedure) Act, No. 5 of 2002, will be taken up for debate in Parliament today, 05th August.
