Govt to grant free access to archaeological sites for children under 18

To instill an appreciation of cultural heritage among local children and increase awareness of national heritage and places, the government has decided to provide free access to projects belonging to the Cultural Fund to children under the age of 18.

The Central Cultural Fund Governing Board has reportedly approved the relevant proposal.

According to this government decision, children will have the opportunity to visit 26 archaeological sites of value belonging to the Central Cultural Fund, including Sigiriya, Yapahuwa, Dambulla, without entrance tickets.

In parallel, it has been decided to issue entry permits to foreign children under limited conditions, said Deputy Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Gamagedara Dissanayake.
