Madhu Shrine feast begins today and draws over 500,000 devotees

The annual festival at the historical Roman Catholic Church, Shrine of Our Lady of Madhu, is scheduled to begin with flag hoisting today, 06 August, and will end on August 15 on the feast day. The annual feast of Our Lady of Madhu will also attend a large crowd of non-Catholics.
The official discussion over the Shrine’s annual feast was held yesterday at the Mannar District Office with the participation of Mannar District Secretary K. Kanakeswaran and Bishop of Mannar Dr. Emmanuel Fernando.
More than 500,000 devotees are expected to attend the annual feast. Arrangements are being made to offer potable water, sanitation facilities, food, and medical services to accommodate the high number of attendees. The security and administrative teams in Mannar have been coordinated to efficiently handle these plans.
Moreover, there has been a demand for constant inspection of the food served in the temporary kitchens established on the temple premises. Health officials and public health inspectors in Mannar are getting ready to make sure that these criteria are fulfilled.
