Kalmunai: Cabinet gives the green light for land procurement for tourism

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the acquisition of land in the Kalmunai Municipal Council area on Monday to enhance tourism and recreational activities by developing a tourist facility center.

The Kalmunai Municipal Council area development plan has identified the coastal area of Karuna as an ideal location for these activities.

 
According to  Cabinet Co-Spokesman and Minister Bandula Gunawardena, the approved plan involves acquiring 1 rood and 29.44 perches of land located on Rest House road in the Kalmunai coastal area.

“The land will be transferred to the Urban Development Authority (UDA) for the construction of the new tourist facility centre,” 
 
Addressing the media during the regular post-Cabinet meeting briefing on Tuesday, he observed that the goal of the program is to improve the region’s attractiveness to visitors by offering vital infrastructure and services, consequently boosting local tourism and economic growth.
