The population and Housing Census programme now on

The 15th Population and Housing Census programme was started on November 1, 2023, covering the entire country and will be completed on January 31, Colombo District Secretary K.G. Wijesiri said.

The Department of Census and Statistics launch the programme.

“When conducting the Population and Housing Census programme our officials had to face many issues while collecting details. Some people were helpful, and some refused to give their details. There were difficulties when entering certain houses as they were closed and the gates locked,” Wijesiri said.

However, legal action will be taken against the individuals who refused to give details relating to the programme, he added.
