Don’t touch the EPF/ETF
During a public protest held yesterday (24th August) evening in the Katunayaka Investment Promotion Zone, the Convener of Da-Bindu Collective told the media that the Employees’ Provident Fund is the largest fund in the country and if the workers have any social security. It is only the Provident Fund and “it cannot be allowed to be plundered.” 
The Convener, Chamila Thushari said that even if the workers of this country migrate within the country and give their labor, they do not get any kind of social protection, job security, or proper respect for their work.
“We strongly condemn the fact that this government is ready to rob the ETF/EPF of the working class, the poorest workers living in this country, in order to settle the huge debt taken from the world’s powerful countries in a situation where there is no social dialogue about the conditions of the workers” Chamila Thushari stated.She said that it is very shameful to rob the workers’ EPF/ETF instead of providing relief to the suffering people who are unable to feed their stomachs three times in the current economic pressure.
A president without a mandate cannot be allowed to sacrifice the lives of the working people to pay the huge debt taken on their own accord and called on all sections of the society to come and strengthen the massive protest against “EPF/ETF robbery” to be held on August 28.
