A conspiracy to arrest a Catholic priest active in the struggle

A Lawyer who is involved with the Peoples’ Struggle, Manoj Nanayakkara disclosed to the media that according to the internal information received by him, Sri Lanka’s Public Security Minister Tiran Alas has pressured the Inspector General of Police to arrest Catholic Priest Jeevantha Peiris, who is an active activist in the struggle.
Quoting a news report also reported by Lanka News, “CID says no. CCD says yes,” lawyer Manoj Nanayakkara said about the government’s terrorist act of arresting Father Jeevantha Peiris.
But he also mentioned that the website is down as of today.
Lawyer Manoj Nanayakkara, who stated that the Inspector General of Sri Lanka Police, which operates under the Minister in charge of Public Security, has expressed his disapproval of the minister’s proposal, said that there is no reason or basis for arresting Father Jeevantha Peiris and that there will be a problem if Father Jeevantha is arrested at this time.
He also stated that the IGP has complained to President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Lawyer Manoj Nanayakkara, stated that the President of the country is very well aware of this matter, and said that the Minister in charge of Police Tiran Alas and the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Western Provinces, Deshbandu Tennakon, are behind this conspiracy.
The lawyer said that no matter how many thousands there are in the police, the power of the people’s sovereignty is very strong, and the President emphasized that the people should remember that like Father Jeevantha, the Maradana CSR Institute has been on the streets and acted for the people since then and that the people will not wait silently as they have continuously stood up for the oppressed.
