Danushka Gunathilaka Case: Three Member Panel Appointed.

Sri Lanka has started an investigation into misconduct as more accusations come out after the cricket board of Sri Lanka announced on Tuesday that it would investigate the conduct of its players and officials during the T20 World Cup after a player was arrested in Australia.

Sri Lanka Cricket said that a three-member panel, which is headed by a retired judge, has been set up to look into “various alleged incidents” that happened while the team was in Australia.

The probe panel, which includes retired High Court judge Justice Sisira Ratnayake, attorney Niroshana Perera, and attorney Asela Rekawa, will look into various other alleged incidents involving the current Asia Cup champions while they were in Australia, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said.

The report did not specify any incidents apart from the criminal charges against Danushka Gunathilaka, but Sri Lankan media reported that team members attended 16 parties during the tournament.

If the panel’s report shows that the players or officials have acted negligently, the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket will take stern action.

The panel will immediately ask the team manager for an explanation regarding Gunathilakas conduct and other incidents.

There are also reports of a “fight with another player” in a Brisbane casino.

The 31-year-old left-hander, who was arrested ahead of the team’s departure from Australia on Sunday, was denied bail by a local court in Sydney on Monday. The SLC has already suspended him from all forms of the game with immediate effect.
