SSF who still demand a fair price for kerosene

“It is a very clear fact that the government doesn’t touch the rich people to find ways to overcome the economic challenges rather putting more pressure on poorest people in the society. Is this the gift by the government to the Small Scale Fishers (SSF) in Sri Lanka in the International Year of SSF and aquaculture of the UN.

Harman Kumara, who further commented on the economic and social problems faced by Small Scale Fishermen in Sri Lanka, “SSF have been suffering from scarcity of Kerosene last three months. They did not get adequate fuel supply and more than 75% of fishers almost giving up fishing industry.”

“At the same time last two weeks SSF are in the street demanding adequate Kerosene supply and not to increase the Kerosene Price. However it is very clear fact that this government doesn’t listen to the most marginalized poor who feed the country like SSF, farmers , with this price increase the SSF will further down with their economy.” Herman Kumara said.

Also he said that , on top the consumers who were suffering of the unaffordable prices are also face challenges to feed the families with cheap protein source.
