India Allocates INR 4 Billion for Sri Lanka in 2026 Budget
The Indian Budget for 2026 was presented to Parliament yesterday (01), with an allocation of INR 4 billion earmarked for Sri Lanka. The move is seen as a significant step toward further strengthening the long-standing and close friendship between Sri Lanka and India.
The budget was presented by Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and marks the 13th budget delivered under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is also the 9th consecutive budget presented by Sitharaman during Prime Minister Modi’s tenure.
The allocation for Sri Lanka includes both grants and loans and represents an increase compared to the amount allocated in the previous year.
