Change in the price of rice in the future!

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Namal Karunaratne says that steps have been taken to increase the price of paddy from the upcoming season.

He says that it has also been decided to increase the prices of Samba and Keeri Samba varieties of paddy.

However, Deputy Minister Namal Karunaratne also stated that there will be no increase in the price of rice.

“We have already raised the issue of a revision in the price of rice. In particular, Nadu paddy is 120, and that is the case. The price of paddy will be increased from 125 to 130 per hectare. The price of Keeri Samba will increase from 132 to 140 per hectare, which is relevant to the farmer. “

“The increase will take place from the coming season. When the harvest is harvested, farmers will be able to give some paddy at those prices. However, the government has not decided to increase the price of rice in relation to that. There is no expectation of taking such a decision,” responded the Minister to the question raised.

Deputy Minister Namal Karunaratne further said that although the rice mafia in this country has been active during this period in other years, it has not happened during this period this year.
