Pradeshiya Sabha Member Arrested with Two Motorcycles Bearing Same Registration Number!

A Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) member of the Halawatha Pradeshiya Sabha has been arrested by officers of the Halawatha Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau in connection with two motorcycles bearing the same registration number.

The arrest was made on Friday (11) when the two motorcycles were found parked at a residence belonging to the councillor in the Jayabima area of Madampe, Halawatha.

The investigation was initiated following information received by Chief Police Inspector Mahinda Gunasena, Officer-in-Charge of the Halawatha Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau.

According to the police, the registration number displayed on both motorcycles is registered in the name of the councillor’s wife.

Police said a statement is also due to be obtained from the councillor’s wife in connection with the incident.

The arrested councillor and the two motorcycles are scheduled to be produced before the Halawatha Magistrate’s Court today.

Further investigations are being conducted by a team of officers attached to the Halawatha Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau under the instructions of Prabath Dayananda, Acting Superintendent of Police in charge of the Halawatha Division, and under the direction of Chief Police Inspector Mahinda Gunasena.
