Sri Lanka to Host 2026 Asian Under-19 Rugby Championship After 26 Years
Sri Lanka has been awarded the hosting rights for the 2026 Asian Under-19 Rugby Championship, marking the country’s return as host after a gap of 26 years.
The last time Sri Lanka hosted the tournament was in 2000, when the national side, led by Jeevan Gunathilaka, delivered an outstanding performance.
That success enabled Sri Lanka to qualify for the Under-20 World Rugby Championship held in Chile. Sports officials believe that hosting the 2026 Asian Under-19 Rugby Championship will provide a significant boost to the development of local rugby and inspire the next generation of players.
