Sri Lanka Receives Most Favourable Views Across South Asia, Pew Research Reveals
Sri Lanka has emerged as the only country among those surveyed in South Asia to receive predominantly favourable views from people in all the other countries surveyed, according to the Pew Research Center’s Spring 2026 Global Attitudes Survey.
The survey examined public attitudes in Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh towards their neighbouring countries in the region. It found that favourable views of Sri Lanka exceeded unfavourable views among respondents in all three of the other South Asian countries surveyed.
More than 8,000 people across the four countries participated in the survey, including 2,513 respondents from Sri Lanka. Data was collected between February 8 and May 7, 2026.
The report also revealed that Sri Lankans hold a particularly favourable view of India, highlighting positive public attitudes between the two neighbouring countries.
