Australian Investors Express Strong Interest in New Investment Opportunities in Sri Lanka

A number of leading Australian investors and entrepreneurs have expressed strong interest in making direct investments in several key sectors in Sri Lanka, as part of the Government’s programme to strengthen the country’s manufacturing economy and attract foreign investment.

A special round of investment discussions was held in Clyde North, Victoria, Melbourne, under the leadership of Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnetti, with the participation of a government delegation including the Deputy Director General of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) and the Chairman of the Export Development Board (EDB).

Special attention was given to establishing sustainable energy solutions through ECOGEN and sustainable recycling processes in the apparel sector through AusLoop Global Solutions in Sri Lanka.

Discussions were also held on introducing a large-scale commercial dairy farming project with a capacity of 2,000 cattle through FRMAFIRST, as well as a modern, climate-resilient livestock breeding project aimed at increasing domestic milk production.

Investors also expressed interest in establishing a large-scale manufacturing facility for recycled plastic-based 3D printing technology and related equipment at the Ekala Industrial Estate operated by the Industrial Development Board (IDB).

In addition, discussions covered integrated aquaculture projects, eco-friendly hotel projects in the Marawila area, food processing industries involving OSCS Holdings, and projects involving FLEXIMAKE.

The investors welcomed the transparency, credibility and government support emerging in Sri Lanka’s business environment under the present administration and agreed to take the necessary steps to commence the proposed projects in Sri Lanka as soon as possible.
