Australia Gives AUD 1 Million to Help Sri Lanka After Cyclone Dithwah

Australia has announced AUD 1 million in humanitarian aid to support Sri Lanka’s response to Cyclone Dithwah, the Australian High Commission said.

Australia says it stands with Sri Lanka during this difficult time and will help deliver essential services to affected communities. The support will be provided through UN agencies and humanitarian partners working on the ground.

Australia is also working with local civil society groups to redirect existing funds to meet urgent needs, especially for women, girls, and people with disabilities.

The Australian Government welcomed the activation of regional emergency funds, including a joint initiative with UNFPA that will help meet the immediate health and protection needs of women and girls affected by the cyclone.
