State institutions in Puttalam join National Integrity Pledge!

State institutions across the Puttalam District joined the launch of the National Integrity Week programme yesterday by taking the National Integrity Pledge, in line with the islandwide initiative launched under the theme “A Culture of Integrity – A Clean Sri Lanka.”
The National Integrity Week is being observed from July 27 to July 31 under a circular issued by Presidential Secretary Dr. Nandika Kumanayake. The Presidential Secretariat and the Clean Sri Lanka Programme jointly implement the programme.
The nationwide campaign officially commenced at 9.00 a.m. yesterday with public institutions taking the National Integrity Pledge and the launch of a Code of Ethics for the public service.
The initiative aims to enhance the quality, efficiency and transparency of the public service while promoting an accountable, corruption-free and exemplary system of public administration.
According to the programme, integrity refers to carrying out one’s official duties with self-discipline, self-control and self-monitoring, while upholding honesty, transparency, ethical conduct and accountability.
In Puttalam District, the programme was launched in several Government institutions.
At the Chilaw General Hospital, the National Integrity Pledge was administered under the patronage of Hospital Director Dr. Sumith Attanayake.
A similar programme was also held at the Marawila Police Station under the leadership of Nattandiya Assistant Superintendent of Police Dhammika Hapugoda, with police officers participating in the pledge.
National Integrity Week will continue until July 31 with a series of activities aimed at strengthening ethical values and good governance within the public sector.
