Training Programme in Kilinochchi for District and Divisional Secretariat Officers on ‘Prajashakthi’ National Movement Implementation

A two-day training programme aimed at enhancing the awareness of District and Divisional Secretariat officers on the implementation of the ‘Prajashakthi’ National Movement for poverty eradication was held yesterday (18) and today (19) in Kilinochchi.

Approximately 45 officials representing the Northern Provincial Council, as well as government officers from the Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Mannar Districts and their respective Divisional Secretariats, participated in the programme.

The ‘Prajashakthi’ initiative is being implemented at the grassroots level through the establishment of Community Development Councils in every village, with key responsibilities entrusted to officers of the District and Divisional Secretariats.

Accordingly, participants received comprehensive guidance on the essential aspects government officials must be aware of when implementing the ‘Prajashakthi’ National Movement, the establishment of Community Development Councils and the role of state officers in community empowerment.

The programme is jointly organized by the Prajashakthi Secretariat and the Ministry of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment. A total of nine training programmes have been planned, covering all regions of the island.
