Sri Lanka votes to recognize Israel and Palestine as two states!
Foreign media reported that 142 countries, including Sri Lanka, voted in favor of recognizing Israel and Palestine as two states at the United Nations General Assembly. However, 10 countries, including the United States, voted against.
Sri Lanka has welcomed the resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly endorsing the New York Declaration on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian question and the implementation of the two-state solution, and Sri Lanka is among the 142 countries that voted in favor of the resolution.
Saudi Arabia and France have been commended for taking the lead in this important initiative.
Sri Lanka reaffirms its continued support for the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to statehood in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter and United Nations resolutions.
