Meeting between the President and representatives of the COYLE

The government’s expectation is to strengthen domestic entrepreneurs and achieve economic growth targets – President

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that the government will provide the necessary infrastructure, enact rules and regulations and regulate business activities, while expanding market opportunities for domestic entrepreneurs. He emphasized that the government expects local businesspeople and entrepreneurs to contribute to the country’s economic growth to the fullest extent.

The President made these remarks during a preliminary 2026 budget discussion with representatives of the Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs (COYLE) held yesterday (12) at the Presidential Secretariat.

During the meeting, the representatives formally informed the President in writing about the challenges and issues they face in the sector and also presented their related proposals.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that this year’s budget places special emphasis on modernizing the government. The President highlighted that particular attention has been given to providing the public service with necessary modern technologies and facilities, as well as advancing digitalization initiatives.

The group of representatives expressed their gratitude to the President for providing the opportunity to present their views and proposals for the 2026 budget. They also commended President Dissanayake for the government’s commitment to creating a corruption-free country firmly governed by the rule of law.

In addition, they marked the occasion by presenting a memento to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The event was also attended by Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, Senior Additional Secretary to the President Russell Aponsu, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board Mangala Wijesinghe, senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and representatives of the COYLE.
