Central Province Programme to recognize A-Level high-flyers by President’s Fund on September 14th
The Central Province programme to recognise district-level outstanding achievers in the 2023/2024 GCE Advanced Level Examination, organized under the President’s Fund, will be held on Sunday, September 14, at 8:00 a.m. in the Kandy District Secretariat Auditorium, under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.
During the ceremony, 360 students from the Kandy, Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts, who secured positions 1 to 10 across all six subject streams in the 2023 and 2024 A-Level examinations, were awarded certificates and an incentive payment of Rs. 100,000 each. The total expenditure for this programme, funded by the President’s Fund, amounts to Rs. 36 million.
Meanwhile, a scholarship award programme for schoolgirls from economically disadvantaged families in the Kandy Mahiyawa area will also be held on September 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kandy District Secretariat.
In addition, a special one-day training workshop for subject officers from all Divisional Secretariat offices in the Central Province will be held tomorrow (13) at the Kandy District Secretariat, aimed at extending the activities of the President’s Fund to the regional level.
The programme will provide briefings to subject officers in Kandy, Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts who are involved with the President’s Fund in the Central Province. It aims to equip them with the knowledge and training necessary to increase the number of beneficiaries, deliver higher-quality services, introduce the newly upgraded online systems and ensure faster and more efficient service delivery.
