May the Reverend Father Benedict Joseph Fernando Rest in Peace!
The Colombo Diocese Media Centre has announced the passing of Father Rev. Fr. Benedict Joseph Fernando, the former Director of Mass Communication of the Catholic Church of Sri Lanka.
The statement said that the father, who maintained a good relationship between the Catholic Church and the media sector, spent his final years in the prophetic work he followed, receiving praise and appreciation from the community despite his illness.
He spent his last years at the Evening Stars retirement home of the Catholic Church in Havelock, Colombo, where he ended his life.
The remains of Rev. Fr. Benedict Joseph will be brought to Sacred Heart Chapel, Archbishop’s House, Borella, at 5.30 pm, on Friday today) The 12th of September.
Funeral on Saturday, the 13th of September. The Requiem Mass will commence at 3.00 pm at the Archbishop’s house chapel, followed by burial at Borella General Cemetery.
