Sri Lankan Embassy back in Cyprus

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism has decided to open a Sri Lankan Embassy in Cyprus from the 20th of this month (July 20) to provide diplomatic services to Sri Lankans living in the country.
The decision to reopen the Sri Lankan Embassy in Cyprus was made after considering the requests received from the Sri Lankans living there on a regular basis. After the office is opened, full services will be provided to the Sri Lankans living there, and through this, it will be possible to increase employment opportunities and trade investments. The Minister stated.
The Minister further stated that the approval of the Cypriot government has been received for the opening of the embassy and the delegation appointed by the Ministry to commence the activities of the newly opened embassy is scheduled to leave for the country on July 15.
There are nearly 15,000 Sri Lankans in Cyprus and the embassy that was operating there was closed a few years ago. As a result, Sri Lankans there have had to resort to the Embassy in Ankara, Turkey to receive diplomatic services.
