NPP to launch a fresh Aragalaya from June 8

The National People’s Power (NPP) will re-launch the battle from June 8 to force the government to hold the Local Government elections, as 09 June completes three months since the LG polls have been delayed, NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.
“All our candidates who were contesting the LG polls would come before the Elections Commission on June 8 and demand the election,” said the leader Anura Kumara addressing a rally at Balapitiya.
“We will then organize protest campaigns in Gampaha, Hambantota and Anuradhapura and finally will launch a massive people’s struggle to surround Colombo.” Dissanayake said.
MP Anurakumara said that the NPP was struggling to convert this country into a suitable country where people can live and added that the NPP was ready to take up the challenge.
Further, MP Anurakumara also said that “These rulers have inflicted grave destruction on the country and its people. The recently issued Central Bank report shows that 68 percent of the population have either reduced the amount of food consumption or reduced the number of their meals. It also shows that 40 percent of the patients have stopped taking medicines. Around 40 percent have cut down on education expenses, 500,000 people employed in regular employment have lost their jobs. Some 1,004000 unskilled labourers left the country last year. The majority of the working force is trying to leave the country,” he said.
Also, he said, nominations for the Presidential election should be called for before August next year he said and added that the LG polls and Provincial Council elections should be obtained.
