A General Strike from tomorrow
National Organizer of the National Trade Union Centre Wasantha Samarasinghe said all trade unions will join the general strike on Wednesday – 15th March.
” A few unions including the Federation of University Teachers Associations ( FUTA) has already engaged in a work stoppage but you will be able to see the whole country going for a work stoppage on Wednesday,” he said.
The general strike will be launched over several demands such as reduction of electricity tariff, an immediate halt to the selling of state owned enterprises without a people’s mandate and to resolving issues pertaining to Samurdhi.
