Former Archbishop Most Reverend Dr Oswald Gomis called to Eternal Rest in the Lord
Former Archbishop of Colombo Most Reverend Dr. Oswald Gomis who was also the former Chancellor of the University of Colombo was called to Eternal Rest in the Lord at the age of 90. Archbishop Gomis was also the Bishop of Anuradhapura and the Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo from 1968 to 1996.
Born on 12 December 1932 in Kelaniya Gomis attended St. Joseph’s College and St. Benedict’s College Colombo 13 and then entered the seminary in 1950. He was ordained as a priest on 3 February 1958 (On a day like today). He was consecrated bishop on 17 July 1968.
According to the Archbishop’s house, the funeral arrangements will be notified later.
