Police officers involved in the attack on Father Milan Priyadarshana granted bail!
Gampaha Chief Magistrate Seelani Perera yesterday ordered the release on bail of the 6 police officers of the Gampaha Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau’s Combat Motorcycle Team who were arrested in connection with the attack on a Catholic priest named Milan Priyadarshana who was riding his motorcycle in the Kirindiwita area by a group of police officers attached to the Gampaha Police Station on the night of the 24th of this month.
The relevant case was taken up at the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court yesterday, that is, on the 29th of January, and the Magistrate ordered the release of each police officer on a surety bond of Rs. 500,000 each.
The Magistrate further ordered that the six suspected police officers be banned from traveling abroad and their work ban be continued.
