Moderately heavy rains expected in several provinces today

The Meteorological Department informs that there will be occasional showers in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and North-Western provinces and in the Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Moderate to heavy rains exceeding 50 mm may occur at some places in the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces and in the Trincomalee district.

In other areas, showers or thundershowers may occur at times after 2:00 p.m.

There may be misty conditions in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northwestern, North-Central, Southern, and Uva provinces during the early hours of the morning.

The Department of Meteorology informs the public to take steps to minimize the risks of thunderstorms and lightning strikes.
