The Sri Lanka Navy arrested six suspects aboard a local multi-day fishing vessel in deep waters off the western coast, seizing over 250kg of Ice and 85kg of heroin during a special operation on November 2. The vessel and suspects were brought to Dikovita Fisheries Harbour, where the Police Narcotics Bureau confirmed the drug quantities.
Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara and Navy Commander Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda inspected the seized stock. The operation was conducted under the “Country Together” national initiative to achieve a Drug-Free Sri Lanka, with joint efforts by the Navy, Coast Guard, Police, and other law enforcement agencies.
The Deputy Minister commended the Navy’s efforts and urged the public and media to support the national campaign against drug trafficking to protect future generations.
