An agency manager was arrested for defrauding Romania of job dreams

A manager of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Agency has been arrested on suspicion of defrauding a youth of Rs. 945,000 by promising a job in Romania. The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Homagama Magistrate’s Court today (13), it is reported.
The raid was carried out following a complaint filed by a young man from the Bandarawela area to the Foreign Employment Bureau that he had been defrauded of money on several occasions since 2023 by promising him a job as a support worker in a factory in Romania.
The Foreign Employment Bureau said that the suspect was arrested during a raid at a foreign employment agency in Narahenpita. The Foreign Employment Bureau said that the foreign employment agency company is controlled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, and that the suspect was working as an assistant manager in the computer department of the company at the time of his arrest.
