In two months, 23 billion rupees worth of drugs smuggled into Sri Lanka!
Police say they have seized 1,758 kilos of heroin and ice smuggled into the country by multi-day fishing boats during the months of April and May this year (2025). The Police Narcotics Bureau conducted 4 raids and seized this drug stock, according to a statement issued by the Police Media Division. They have also arrested 25 suspects in the past 2 months alone.
The Police Media Division made this statement on the afternoon of (28) regarding the suspects and the amount of drugs seized while bringing drugs into the country by sea so far in 2025.
The police also say that the total value of the heroin seized is Rs. 10.84 billion and the value of the ice drug is around Rs. 12.16 billion.
The police press release indicated that the amount of heroin seized was 542 kg and the amount of ice was 1216 kg.
