13A or 13+ is not a solution to the communal problem – Anura Kumara Dissanayake

The 13th constitutional amendment or 13+ is not a solution to the ethnic problem, and the ethnic problem can only be solved with a new constitution that affirms the rights of the people of the North and the South, National People’s Power MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said yesterday in the Parliament.

Speaking on the debate on the President’s policy statement, he said in Parliament that the constitution introduced in 1978 or the amendments brought to it have not been approved by the people through a referendum.

He said that they are of the position that the lands of the people of the north, which have been taken over by government institutions, should be given back to them.

On this occasion, Anura Kumara also emphasized that President Ranil Wickremesinghe brought up a discussion about the implementation of 13A just to create an issue in the country.
