SL migrant workers: 343 died in Qatar

A total of 343 Sri Lankan migrant workers have lost their lives in Qatar where they were employed since 2014, said the sources of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE).

 

According to details, “natural”,”suicide”,”himucide”,”road accidents”,”other accidenst”,”COVID deaths” and “deaths not confirmed” were the cause of death of migrant workers were listed as.

 

Also, the reports indicate, In 2022, 37 deaths were reported as of October 31. The reasons attributed for the deaths are 207 natural deaths, 30 suicide deaths, 6 homicide deaths, 50 due to road accidents, 35 other accidents, 14 COVID virus deaths, and one unconfirmed death were mentioned.

 

An unconfirmed death was reported in the year 2020. 14 COVID deaths, including 11 in 2021 and three in 2022, were reported.

 

The highest number of deaths was reported in 2015, with the causes of death described as 29 natural deaths, 4 suicides, one homicide, 12 road accidents, and 6 other cases.

And details of the year 2020 reported the fewest number of deaths with the causes of death described as 13 natural deaths, 2 suicide deaths, 3 homicide deaths, 2 other accidents and one unconfirmed death.
