CSE to extend trading hours by 30 minutes

The Board of Directors of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), with the consultation of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and the stockbroking industry, have decided to extend trading hours from next Thursday (15) onwards.
Accordingly, the pre-open session is from 09.30 a.m to 10 a.m, the open auction is at 10 a.m., regular trading will commence at 10 a.m and the market will close at 12.30 p.m.
In April, the CSE restricted trading hours from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
According to the CSE, this decision to restrict trading hours was taken after consultation with the SEC, having considered a request made by stockbroker firms to restrict trading hours, owing to the difficulties faced by investors and other stakeholders to access and operate the market as a result of the prevailing power cuts.
